What is Facial Gua-Sha?

September 3, 2018

The practice of Gua Sha comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine and dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) when they used jade stones to scrape the skin all over the body to treat diseases. This process is believed to stimulate blood circulation to the muscles, tissues and organs; detoxing the body of stagnate “qi” reducing stiffness and pain. Similar to body gua sha, the gua sha facial application stimulates blood circulation and detoxification, while relaxing tense muscles that cause wrinkles to form.

This beauty treatment has been used across Asia for thousands of years. It’s renowned for its  unique ability to increase circulation under the skin, bringing in nutrients and boosting collagen. This simple tool improves the skin from the outside, activating the body to nourish your skin in a more deep and meaningful way. This self-massage technique has been shown in studies to boost circulation by 400%. It stimulates the dermis to support collagen production, manipulating areas of tension to relax facial muscles, exponentially increases blood and lymphatic flow. All this leads to a brighter, healthier, more radiant complexion!
